Under the new Occupational Therapy Practice Bill, occupational therapists will be required to demonstrate competency to practise upon application for registration and renewal of registration.
The Board is looking at options for the management of this requirement, and one possibility is the Ongoing Competency Model recently finalised by the Council of Occupational Therapists Registration Boards (Australia & New Zealand) Inc. ("COTRB"). This model has been recommended to all registration Boards in Australia by COTRB and the South Australian Board has agreed to the model in principle.
