Service Providers
Under the Occupational Therapy Practice Act 2005, an occupational therapy services provider is defined as:
"a person (not being an occupational therapist) who provides occupational therapy through the instrumentality of an occupational therapist or occupational therapy student but does not include an exempt provider."
An exempt provider is defined as:
"(a) a recognised hospital, incorporated health centre or private hospital within the meaning of the South Australian Health Commission Act 1976; or
(b) any other person declared by the regulations to be an exempt provider for the purposes of this Act;" - "University of South Australia".
Section 32 of the Act sets out the information which services providers must give to the Board:

Service providers must complete the above form and forward it to:

The provider must inform the Board in writing of any change to the above information within 30 days of that change occurring. A person who contravenes or fails to comply with this section of the Act (ie. does not provide the information or does not advise of any change) is guilty of an offence - Maximum Penalty: $10,000.
Service providers are subject to the provisions of the Board's Code of Professional Conduct & Practice and if found guilty of unprofessional conduct may be subject to a prohibition order in accordance with Section 42 of the Act. Further information about prohibition orders is set out in Section 43 and Section 44 of the Act.
The Board's Guidelines on Registration booklet also contains important information for service providers.

- the provider's full name and business address (or in the case of a corporation, the registered address); and
- the address of the premises at which the provider provides occupational therapy;
- the full names and nominated contact addresses of the occupational therapists through which occupational therapy is provided;
- in the case of a corporate or trustee services provider, the full names and addresses of all persons who occupy a position of authority in the provider.
